From the project
SNES PPU Logic Analyzer
The 1990-era Super Nintendo Entertainment System is a venerable gaming console, and although its hardware is aging and hard to come by, it has long had well-establish software emulators, preserving gaming history for generations to come.
However, while most of the SNES hardware has been effectively reverse-engineered by writing test programs for the CPU (sometimes taking advantage of undocumented behavior to figure out details), one remaining component of the console has resisted complete analysis: the "Picture Processing Unit" chips, PPU-1 and PPU-2.

Spla: common questions
What microcontroller does the Spla use?
The Spla is built around the LFE5U-45F-BG256, from the FPGA family.
How big is the Spla PCB?
The Spla measures 165 × 107 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Spla?
252 components, from 60 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Spla design files?
From the khaydarian/spla repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Spla design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with khaydarian. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the Spla without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug FPGA firmware against it before you order a PCB.
