About the View base PCB

View base is an open source PCB design by Konn1nn, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 81.2 × 81.2 mm, with 81 components from 32 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the MT6701-CT, T-Micro32_Plus, CH340C, HX711 and TMC6300. By type, the board carries 29 capacitors, 21 resistors, 9 ICs, 8 diodes, 5 connectors and 2 transistors.

It belongs with the wearables and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

This repo is to document the recreation of the smartknob and the electrical analysis of its workings.

A brushless gimbal motor is paired with a magnetic encoder to provide closed-loop torque feedback control, making it possible to dynamically create and adjust the feel of detents and endstops.

🎉 Motors are now available! If you've been following this project, you'll know that the recommended motors went out of stock nearly immediately after it was published. Thanks to the community, we were able to identify the likely original manufacturer, and recently SparkFun…

View base: common questions

How big is the View base PCB?

The View base measures 81.2 × 81.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.2 mm thick.

How many components are on the View base?

81 components, from 32 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the View base design files?

From the Konn1nn/smartknob_rafmagnsvelar repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the View base design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which Konn1nn chose for the repository.
