Implementation of the STM32F4 with the Waveshare 17590

An STM32-based e-reader using the Waveshare 6inch HD e-Paper HAT (IT8951 controller).

Reads a real EPUB off an SD card and renders actual book pages on the physical panel. On real hardware, confirmed working end to end: - STM32CubeMX → CMake → arm-none-eabi-gcc/Ninja → OpenOCD → ST-LINK build/flash/debug loop, from inside VSCode (tasks + launch configs for build, flash, debug, and a serial monitor) - SPI1 communication with the IT8951 (panel resolution/FW/LUT version read back correctly, this panel's VCOM -2.59V set), the FMC/SDRAM (16MB, full read/write test passes), full-panel GC16…

The KiCad project lives in the Mlynn217/stm32-epaper repository on GitHub; these links point at the commit this page was built from.

Stm32-epaper: common questions

What microcontroller does the Stm32-epaper use?

The Stm32-epaper is built around the STM32F469IIT6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Stm32-epaper PCB?

The Stm32-epaper measures 97.4 × 60 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Stm32-epaper?

142 components, from 64 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Stm32-epaper design files?

From the Mlynn217/stm32-epaper repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Stm32-epaper design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Mlynn217. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Stm32-epaper without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
