PCBs for APRL electrical

The projects here rely on APRLLIBS and KICADUSERTEMPLATEDIR being set. You can do this by:

1. Going to Preferences > Configure Paths... 2. Setting APRLLIBS to wherever you cloned this repo + /kicadlibs. 3. Setting KICADUSERTEMPLATEDIR to whatever you set in (2) + /templates

The ALI itself can continue to be used for years to come and this reworking of the electronics will not impact it at all. This is going to be its own separate electrical box altogether. The ALI has the following additional limitations, too: 1. Limited I/O 2. Bonded grounds between +24/12/5V power supplies 3. Unknown…

Chickenstick: common questions

What microcontroller does the Chickenstick use?

The Chickenstick is built around the STM32L433CCTx, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Chickenstick PCB?

The Chickenstick measures 42 × 100 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Chickenstick?

96 components, from 53 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Chickenstick design files?

From the npgo22/APRL-Electrical repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Chickenstick design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with npgo22. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Chickenstick without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
