About the Plinkyblack hwmidi jacks PCB

Plinkyblack hwmidi jacks is an open source STM32 PCB design by plinkysynth, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 121.9 × 109.2 mm, with 261 components from 78 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the DAC7554IDGS, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the LM4040DBZ-2.5, SN74LVC1G17DBV, HCPL-0631, TL072 and MCP6002-xSN. By type, the board carries 126 resistors, 78 capacitors, 23 ICs, 23 diodes, 7 connectors and 2 inductors.

From the project

a public release of the plinky sw and hw

Stijn from This Is Not Rocket Science routed the original Version 3. Steve / Okyreon from denki oto added the LPZW midi circuit to allow plinky to have on-board midi without the expander. Kay** from LPZW Modules then contributed a circuit to fix the input noise, and then polished everything into a 'Version 3.1', which is the current version linked here. Kay also was one of the original people who helped me with the hardware design of V1 and V2.

Plinkyblack hwmidi jacks: common questions

What microcontroller does the Plinkyblack hwmidi jacks use?

The Plinkyblack hwmidi jacks is built around the DAC7554IDGS, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Plinkyblack hwmidi jacks PCB?

The Plinkyblack hwmidi jacks measures 121.9 × 109.2 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Plinkyblack hwmidi jacks?

261 components, from 78 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Plinkyblack hwmidi jacks design files?

From the plinkysynth/plinky_public repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Plinkyblack hwmidi jacks design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which plinkysynth chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Plinkyblack hwmidi jacks without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
