About the Solana badge PCB

Solana badge is an open source ESP32 PCB design by spacemandev-git, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 77.6 × 116.3 mm, with 81 components from 35 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N16R8, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the MCP73831-2-MC, ME6211C33M5, CH340C, SE050C2HQ1_Z01SDZ and TSC2007IPWRG4. By type, the board carries 27 resistors, 21 capacitors, 8 ICs, 5 connectors, 4 transistors and 3 diodes.

It belongs with the iot & wireless, wearables and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

2026 Solana Defcon Badge

The Solana Badge for DEF CON — an ESP32-S3 badge with a 2.8" SPI LCD, six push buttons behind an I²C expander, stereo PDM microphones, two addressable RGB LEDs, an NXP SE050 secure element, USB-C with Li-Po charging, and a 10-pin expansion header.

Hardware is KiCad. There are two firmwares: a factory hardware test kit, and Solana OS — a Lua runtime with an SDK over every peripheral, apps pushed over Wi-Fi or BLE.

Solana badge: common questions

What microcontroller does the Solana badge use?

The Solana badge is built around the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N16R8, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Solana badge PCB?

The Solana badge measures 77.6 × 116.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Solana badge?

81 components, from 35 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Solana badge design files?

From the spacemandev-git/solana-defcon-badge-26 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Solana badge design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with spacemandev-git. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Solana badge without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
