About the Kinky lynx PCB

Kinky lynx is an open source PCB design by tpcarlson, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 40.3 × 128.5 mm, with 129 components from 29 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the TL074 and LM321. By type, the board carries 57 resistors, 25 connectors, 18 diodes, 16 capacitors, 10 ICs and 3 transistors.

It belongs with the audio designs in this gallery.

From the project

Mostly Eurorack projects

A mashup of Mutable Instruments' Kinks and Links all on one board.

(TBC) As measured by the joranalogue Test 3, around x mA on +12v and y mA on -12v at peak. The 5v rail is unused.

This is just a copy of the Kinks and Links schematics jammed together on one PCB, with a couple of very small component changes to allow for easier assembly.

All fairly common parts. Some of the capacitors are quite small (0402 sized) which will make hand soldering a challenge, I had my boards assembled by the PCB fab. I used two pin bicolour LEDs, but you can substitute them for a normal 3mm LED.

Kinky lynx: common questions

How big is the Kinky lynx PCB?

The Kinky lynx measures 40.3 × 128.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Kinky lynx?

129 components, from 29 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Kinky lynx design files?

From the tpcarlson/synth-diy repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Kinky lynx design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with tpcarlson. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
