About the Vcvco PCB

Vcvco is an open source PCB design by tpcarlson, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 50.1 × 128.5 mm, with 104 components from 30 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the TL074, L79L05_TO92, vcdo and MC78L05. By type, the board carries 44 resistors, 29 capacitors, 7 connectors, 6 ICs, 4 diodes and 1 transistor.

It belongs with the audio designs in this gallery.

From the project

Mostly Eurorack projects

A 10hp Wavetable oscillator with 1v/octave control, pitch, bitcrush, glide, and a separate sub-oscillator output.

As measured by the Joranalogue Test 3, around 40 mA on +12v and 10 mA on -12v at peak. The 5v rail is unused.

The original schematic is from the datasheet for the VCDO chip on the ElectricDruid website (https://electricdruid.net/product/vcdo-wavetable-oscillator/). There were a couple of tweaks to add test points and buffered LED drivers for the main and sub-oscillator outputs.

Vcvco: common questions

How big is the Vcvco PCB?

The Vcvco measures 50.1 × 128.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Vcvco?

104 components, from 30 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Vcvco design files?

From the tpcarlson/synth-diy repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Vcvco design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with tpcarlson. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
