About the Main board

Main board is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by AllenNeuralDynamics, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 80 × 50 mm, with 183 components from 75 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the 74LVCH2T45DC, TPD2EUSB30, ADUM4160, W25Q16JVUXIQ and ADA4891-4. By type, the board carries 78 capacitors, 70 resistors, 17 ICs, 6 connectors, 4 diodes and 3 inductors.

From the project

0360: an ephys-compliant capacitive lick detector

An ephys-compliant lick detector based on measured change in capacitance.

These printed circuit boards are made on-demand.

You will also need: Pololu 6-Pin SH Cable, 25cm long Stainless Steel Lick Tube, 18 Gauge (any conductive lick tube will work!) 3D Printed Enclosure Walls and Laser Cut Lids right click the component to export each part.

Once you receive boards, you will need to upload the firmware from the latest release.

The KiCad project lives in the AllenNeuralDynamics/harp.device.lickety-split repository on GitHub; these links point at the commit this page was built from.

Main board: common questions

What microcontroller does the Main board use?

The Main board is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Main board?

The Main board measures 80 × 50 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.567 mm thick.

How many components are on the Main board?

183 components, from 75 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Main board design files?

From the AllenNeuralDynamics/harp.device.lickety-split repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Main board design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which AllenNeuralDynamics chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Main board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
