About the Environment Controller KiCad THT PCB

Environment Controller KiCad THT is an open source ESP8266 PCB design by ArtoLabs, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 96 × 73 mm, with 45 components from 32 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP-01, from the ESP8266 family. Other key parts include the DHT11, ATmega328P-PU, LM317_TO3, Winbond_W25Q32BV and 74HC595. By type, the board carries 18 resistors, 10 capacitors, 7 ICs, 4 connectors, 1 crystal and 1 buzzer.

It belongs with the sensors, iot & wireless and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

Collection of modules for indoor/outdoor gardening automation and environmental control

This is the first Sensi-Pot open source automation device made for regulating the temperature and humidity of an enclosed space, including greenhouses. Marijuana grows best when the environment is kept at a perfect balance, and this device can maintain a perfect 55% humidity and 75 degrees fahrenheit, which is perfect for marijuana. The controller can be adjusted to regulate any temperature or level of humidity. At the heart of the device is the custom circuit board, which can be ordered using the open source Gerber files, or by ordering through PCBway.com (see below for more info).

Environment Controller KiCad THT: common questions

What microcontroller does the Environment Controller KiCad THT use?

The Environment Controller KiCad THT is built around the ESP-01, from the ESP8266 family.

How big is the Environment Controller KiCad THT PCB?

The Environment Controller KiCad THT measures 96 × 73 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Environment Controller KiCad THT?

45 components, from 32 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Environment Controller KiCad THT design files?

From the ArtoLabs/Sensi-pot repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Environment Controller KiCad THT design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which ArtoLabs chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Environment Controller KiCad THT without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP8266 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
