About the Phone board mems

Phone board mems is an open source ESP32 PCB design by JamesTwallin, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 55 × 31 mm, with 58 components from 27 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-S3-MINI-1-N8, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the USBLC6-2SC6, BQ24073RGTR, AP2112K-3.3, ME6211C28M5G-N and ADS1115IDGSR. By type, the board carries 25 resistors, 17 capacitors, 7 ICs, 5 switches, 2 connectors and 1 transistor.

It belongs with the sensors and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

A 55 × 31 mm, 4-layer board: the rev C phone-companion board with its two Figaro TO-5 cans replaced by Winsen GM-402B MEMS sensors and the 5 V heater boost replaced by a 2.8 V LDO. Everything else is the rev C circuit: bare ESP32-S3-MINI-1, BQ24073 charger, USB-C, ADS1115, SHT40

Phone board mems: common questions

What microcontroller does the Phone board mems use?

The Phone board mems is built around the ESP32-S3-MINI-1-N8, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Phone board mems?

The Phone board mems measures 55 × 31 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Phone board mems?

58 components, from 27 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Phone board mems design files?

From the JamesTwallin/gas_sensor repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Phone board mems design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which JamesTwallin chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Phone board mems without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
