An rp2040-based acquisition board for pulse-echo ultrasound

The pic0rick is a very central board for an ultrasound pulse-echo system. It is composed of a main board, based on the RP2040 (or RP2350) and easy to solder SMD, to which a single, and a double PMOD connector can connect to addons:

The main board is equipped with a 60Msps, 10bit ADC. Front end is protected against high-voltage pulses, and features a proven time-gain compensation system consisting in a AD8331 (7.5 dB to 55.5dB) with a controlling (MCP4812) SPI DAC. The single PMOD connector can plug to the Pulser board, which can be equipped with a simple +-25V generation board. Together…

3 in 1 Panel: common questions

What microcontroller does the 3 in 1 Panel use?

The 3 in 1 Panel is built around the Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the 3 in 1 Panel PCB?

The 3 in 1 Panel measures 87.1 × 78.3 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the 3 in 1 Panel?

63 components, from 35 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the 3 in 1 Panel design files?

From the kelu124/pic0rick repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the 3 in 1 Panel design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its TAPR-OHL-1.0 license, which kelu124 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the 3 in 1 Panel without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
