Solar powered pump for allotment garden water supply

Solar powered Water pump controller ===================================

The project has been to put together a water pump powered by a solar panel, with a battery for reserve power. The need was to pump water from a stream beside allotment garden up to the allotment for watering plants. The whole unit needs to be completely portable because the area was was prone to theft.

Solarpump: common questions

What microcontroller does the Solarpump use?

The Solarpump is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Solarpump PCB?

The Solarpump measures 100 × 160 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.76 mm thick.

How many components are on the Solarpump?

424 components, from 155 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Solarpump design files?

From the rivimey/solarpump repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Solarpump design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with rivimey. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Solarpump without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
