From the project

A homebrew 65c02s-based computer and custom operating system, with a handful of modern features.

The goal of this project is to build a 6502-based portable machine, running my own operating system.

See the complete implementation plan and progress here: Implemementation Plan

PCB assembled, PIC is able to load code for the 6502 to execute, the 6502 can read/write to the 2-port SRAM.

These are some general points; for the full hardware specification, see here: Hardware Specification

Homebrew 65c02 Computer: common questions

What microcontroller does the Homebrew 65c02 Computer use?

The Homebrew 65c02 Computer is built around the PIC16F15385-xPT, from the PIC family.

How big is the Homebrew 65c02 Computer PCB?

The Homebrew 65c02 Computer measures 127.6 × 98 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Homebrew 65c02 Computer?

252 components, from 65 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Homebrew 65c02 Computer design files?

From the snorklerjoe/useful6502 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Homebrew 65c02 Computer design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which snorklerjoe chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Homebrew 65c02 Computer without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug PIC firmware against it before you order a PCB.
