This repository is about restoration of a 1972 Data General Nova1210 computer I proudly posses.

It came without a frontpanel, hence creation of what is the main contents sofar.

In the mean time, this repository contains several projects:

teensy_nova: for those of you who want a tiny emulated Nova1200 computer, just add a breadboard, a Teensy (3.2, 3.2, 3.5, 4.0 or 4.1) a few switches and wires and an SDI ILI9341 TFT display (note that pinouts can differ, mines are without touch and have 9 pins on one side). Also works very nicely (no wires required) on a Featherwing 2.4 inch TFT touch…

Nova 1200 front panel: common questions

What microcontroller does the Nova 1200 front panel use?

The Nova 1200 front panel is built around the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Nova 1200 front panel PCB?

The Nova 1200 front panel measures 397.5 × 119.4 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Nova 1200 front panel?

203 components, from 31 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Nova 1200 front panel design files?

From the ForgottenMachines/Data-General-Nova repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Nova 1200 front panel design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with ForgottenMachines. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Nova 1200 front panel without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
