About the FujiApple DevKit Combo PCB

FujiApple DevKit Combo is an open source ESP32 PCB design by FujiNetWIFI, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 41 × 65.3 mm, with 30 components from 24 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the C529589, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the C969151, C371970 and C3040644. By type, the board carries 16 resistors, 5 ICs, 3 diodes, 2 connectors, 2 switches and 2 capacitors.

It belongs with the iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

This is built primary to work in DB19 mode, but can also be used with the DB19 Male Adapter to plug into a IDC-20 disk card. I tend to build them in the short configuration to keep the case height as slim as possible when plugged in the Apple II. The downside of this is once you solder the ESP32 to the board, you will not be able to access the components under it for troubleshooting.

FujiApple DevKit Combo: common questions

What microcontroller does the FujiApple DevKit Combo use?

The FujiApple DevKit Combo is built around the C529589, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the FujiApple DevKit Combo PCB?

The FujiApple DevKit Combo measures 41 × 65.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the FujiApple DevKit Combo?

30 components, from 24 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the FujiApple DevKit Combo design files?

From the FujiNetWIFI/fujinet-hardware repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the FujiApple DevKit Combo design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license, which FujiNetWIFI chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the FujiApple DevKit Combo without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
