About the Integrated power baseline PCB

Integrated power baseline is an open source ESP32 PCB design by hicancan, published on GitHub under the AGPL-3.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 100 × 85 mm, with 99 components from 57 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-C3-WROOM-02U-N4, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the AP63203WU-7, TMP102AIDRLR, ATM90E26-YU, ISO6741DWR and ACPL-K376-560E. By type, the board carries 31 resistors, 22 capacitors, 11 ICs, 4 transistors, 4 connectors and 2 switches.

It belongs with the sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

CARBENTRA smart plug: AIoT edge device for campus energy orchestration

Routed engineering development candidate. Fabrication and energization remain on hold.

This revision integrates edge control, isolated metering, post-switch AC-presence feedback and an independent thermal permission latch on a 100 × 85 mm, four-layer board. It retains a separate 12 × 12 mm thermal pickup head and in-enclosure main protection components. The proposal is a single 220 VAC ±10% socket platform with commissioned load profiles, not a universal plug-hole adapter or an unconditional 16 A motor-switching rating.

Integrated power baseline: common questions

What microcontroller does the Integrated power baseline use?

The Integrated power baseline is built around the ESP32-C3-WROOM-02U-N4, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Integrated power baseline PCB?

The Integrated power baseline measures 100 × 85 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Integrated power baseline?

99 components, from 57 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Integrated power baseline design files?

From the hicancan/carbentra-smart-plug repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Integrated power baseline design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its AGPL-3.0 license, which hicancan chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Integrated power baseline without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
