About the KiCad-PCB-design workshop

KiCad-PCB-design workshop is an open source ESP32 PCB design by LEDs-by-glowingkitty, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a board, with 56 components from 28 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-WROOM-32E, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the SN74LVC2T45DCUR, MSM261D4030H1CPM, SN74LVC1G373DBVR, AP40P05 and SPX3819M5-L-3-3_TR. By type, the board carries 14 connectors, 14 capacitors, 11 ICs, 11 resistors, 3 switches and 1 fuse.

From the project

This repo contains files related to my PCB design workshop using KiCad. Learn how you can build a simple PCB and then continue with easily building a more complex LED project.

Donations are split between xHain (the non-profit space where we meet, for providing the space) and me (for the time and effort I put into the workshop). If you want to say thank you and support the workshops, I suggest a donation of 10€-30€.

Donate via Apple Pay / Google Pay / Card

If this is currently financially difficult for you: telling others about my workshops also helps me out a lot.

The KiCad project lives in the LEDs-by-glowingkitty/KiCad-PCB-design-workshop repository on GitHub; these links point at the commit this page was built from.

KiCad-PCB-design workshop: common questions

What microcontroller does the KiCad-PCB-design workshop use?

The KiCad-PCB-design workshop is built around the ESP32-WROOM-32E, from the ESP32 family.

How many components are on the KiCad-PCB-design workshop?

56 components, from 28 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the KiCad-PCB-design workshop design files?

From the LEDs-by-glowingkitty/KiCad-PCB-design-workshop repository on GitHub, which has the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the KiCad-PCB-design workshop design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which LEDs-by-glowingkitty chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the KiCad-PCB-design workshop without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
