About the Bittyaxe PCB

Bittyaxe is an open source ESP32 PCB design by BeeEvolved, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 55.5 × 66.9 mm, with 85 components from 39 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the TPS546D24ARVFR, RT9080-33GJ5, MCP1824T-1202E/OT, MCP1824T-0802E and 25MHZ. By type, the board carries 52 capacitors, 18 resistors, 9 ICs, 3 connectors, 2 switches and 1 inductor.

From the project

itty-bitty open-source Bitcoin miner based on the original Bitaxe, reconfigured and branching off on its own unique development pathway, focusing on a small form factor and minimal footprint.

The BittyAxe is a compact ASIC miner inspired by the BitAxe Gamma design. It harnesses the power of the BM1370 ASIC chip to achieve hash rates of approximately 1.2 TH/s with an energy efficiency of 15 J/TH.

Bittyaxe: common questions

What microcontroller does the Bittyaxe use?

The Bittyaxe is built around the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Bittyaxe PCB?

The Bittyaxe measures 55.5 × 66.9 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Bittyaxe?

85 components, from 39 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Bittyaxe design files?

From the BeeEvolved/Bittyaxe repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Bittyaxe design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license, which BeeEvolved chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Bittyaxe without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
