About the Pixeldustactual PCB

Pixeldustactual is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by hackclub, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 114.3 × 40.3 mm, with 268 components from 4 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-RP2040-SMD, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 134 capacitors, 133 diodes and 1 IC.

It belongs with the displays & leds designs in this gallery.

⚠️ I would like to solder way more than 50 neopixels and a bunch of caps, so I would need a hotplate.

This is a grid of SK6821MINI leds. It is designed mainly to be used as a clock, but the surrounding leds could also be used for other things, and I'm planning on adding a alarm with a webpage later.

Pixeldustactual: common questions

What microcontroller does the Pixeldustactual use?

The Pixeldustactual is built around the XIAO-RP2040-SMD, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Pixeldustactual PCB?

The Pixeldustactual measures 114.3 × 40.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Pixeldustactual?

268 components, from 4 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Pixeldustactual design files?

From the hackclub/pixeldust repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Pixeldustactual design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with hackclub. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Pixeldustactual without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
