About the ProximityGradient PCB

ProximityGradient is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by hackclub, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 76.2 × 63.5 mm, with 65 components from 11 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 50 diodes, 8 capacitors, 4 connectors, 2 resistors and 1 IC.

Describe your board in 2-3 sentences. What are you making? What will it do? Please add a lot of pictures here!!

Simple NeoMatrix connected to an UltraSonic distance sensor (Provided by me) that shows a circle that grows in proportion to the distance, the closer and object gets to the sensor, the bigger the circle gets and the red-er it gets.

ProximityGradient: common questions

What microcontroller does the ProximityGradient use?

The ProximityGradient is built around the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the ProximityGradient PCB?

The ProximityGradient measures 76.2 × 63.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the ProximityGradient?

65 components, from 11 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the ProximityGradient design files?

From the hackclub/pixeldust repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the ProximityGradient design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with hackclub. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the ProximityGradient without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
