ThermoGlyph is a wrist-worn (or dorsal-hand-worn) haptic display that communicates information to its wearer entirely through localized temperature changes. Instead of vibrating motors or electro-tactile pins — both of which are noisy, fatiguing, and attention-grabbing — ThermoGlyph uses a dense array of 96 micro-Peltier thermoelectric cells (12×8 grid, 2.5 mm pitch) pressed gently against the skin to render thermal glyphs: warm/cool patterns that the wearer perceives as directional…

ThermoGlyph — Wearable Thermal-Tactile Display: common questions

What microcontroller does the ThermoGlyph — Wearable Thermal-Tactile Display use?

The ThermoGlyph — Wearable Thermal-Tactile Display is built around the nRF5340-QKAA-AB0-R, from the Nordic nRF family.

How big is the ThermoGlyph — Wearable Thermal-Tactile Display PCB?

The ThermoGlyph — Wearable Thermal-Tactile Display measures 60 × 45 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 0.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the ThermoGlyph — Wearable Thermal-Tactile Display?

10 components, from 9 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the ThermoGlyph — Wearable Thermal-Tactile Display design files?

From the jayis1/hardware-design-lab repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the ThermoGlyph — Wearable Thermal-Tactile Display design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with jayis1. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the ThermoGlyph — Wearable Thermal-Tactile Display without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Nordic nRF firmware against it before you order a PCB.
