Its main chip is the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the AP2114H-3.3TRG1, MCP23008-xSO, USBLC6-2SC6, AP63205WU and CC1101. By type, the board carries 33 capacitors, 25 resistors, 15 connectors, 12 ICs, 10 inductors and 6 diodes.

It belongs with the iot & wireless, displays & leds and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

Home Assistant Smart Home Alarm Control Panel with fingerprint reader, NFC/RFID card reader, motion radar, and touchscreen TFT display. It can control your smart home, not just your home security system. Backlit with LED strip and automatic brightness control. And more

I really enjoyed this project, it was probably my biggest and longest project yet. Mainly because of the PCB-it’s probably the most complex one I’ve ever designed. And I actually learned a few new things along the way.

Security-Alarm-Panel: common questions

What microcontroller does the Security-Alarm-Panel use?

The Security-Alarm-Panel is built around the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Security-Alarm-Panel PCB?

The Security-Alarm-Panel measures 100 × 73.9 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Security-Alarm-Panel?

113 components, from 68 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Security-Alarm-Panel design files?

From the Matyas604/Security-Alarm-Panel repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Security-Alarm-Panel design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which Matyas604 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Security-Alarm-Panel without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
