From the project

ESP32 based LCC Boards

This is a LCC node circuit board that is based around an Espressif ESP32-S3FN8 MCU to manage and operate a collection of model railroad sensors and actuators.

- Four occupancy detectors. CT Coil type sensors, so they won't work with DC systems without an AC bias. - Four stall-motor drivers with point sense. - Four Schmitt Trigger inputs, meant for push buttons. - Four Buffered outputs, by default for Panel LEDS, but with drop in resistors, can also drive relays or other loads. - Sixteen PWM Led drivers. These are meant to light (LED) lamps in signal heads.

ESP32-S3-MultiFunction: common questions

What microcontroller does the ESP32-S3-MultiFunction use?

The ESP32-S3-MultiFunction is built around the ESP32-S3FN8, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the ESP32-S3-MultiFunction PCB?

The ESP32-S3-MultiFunction measures 99.1 × 125.7 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the ESP32-S3-MultiFunction?

141 components, from 66 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the ESP32-S3-MultiFunction design files?

From the RobertPHeller/ESP32-LCC repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the ESP32-S3-MultiFunction design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CC-BY-4.0 license, which RobertPHeller chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the ESP32-S3-MultiFunction without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
