About the Pro rev1 PCB

Pro rev1 is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by TheRetroWeb, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-P-2.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 102.6 × 107.3 mm, with 130 components from 55 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2350B-QFN80, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the 74LVC245, MCP6002-T/SN, 74LVC02, W25Q32JVSS and AP63203WU. By type, the board carries 51 capacitors, 41 resistors, 14 ICs, 8 connectors, 7 diodes and 4 switches.

It belongs with the displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

RPi Pico based POST (Power-On Self Test) Diagnostic Card

PicoPOST is a PC diagnostic card for systems with, at least, an 8-bit ISA slot. It's based around the Raspberry Pi Pico, powered by an RP2040.

PicoPOST is designed to provide many additional benefits over the basic POST cards that are commonly available from Chinese vendors on eBay and other sites.

This project is getting ready for public usage, with a few prototypes already in use for development purposes. More information soon as it gets finalized.

Pro rev1: common questions

What microcontroller does the Pro rev1 use?

The Pro rev1 is built around the RP2350B-QFN80, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Pro rev1 PCB?

The Pro rev1 measures 102.6 × 107.3 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Pro rev1?

130 components, from 55 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Pro rev1 design files?

From the TheRetroWeb/PicoPOST repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Pro rev1 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-P-2.0 license, which TheRetroWeb chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Pro rev1 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
