Open source ASIC Bitcoin miner hardware. Lite version by MakingDevices

This is the motto you will see at the top of the Bitaxe repository, and it’s the reason Why MakerAxe-Lite was created.

MakerAxe Lite is the first attempt to extract the essentials of Bitaxe, reduce it to the minimum, and create a foundation for building new and exciting hardware in the future.

The project modifies the original hardware with the following changes:

MakerAxe lite: common questions

What microcontroller does the MakerAxe lite use?

The MakerAxe lite is built around the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the MakerAxe lite PCB?

The MakerAxe lite measures 56.5 × 99.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the MakerAxe lite?

97 components, from 53 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the MakerAxe lite design files?

From the makingdevices/MakerAxe-lite repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the MakerAxe lite design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with makingdevices. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the MakerAxe lite without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
