Custom board designs for MiSTle projects

This is a carrier/base board for the Icepi-Zero. It adds the FPGA Companion with its USB ports and two classic Dsub9 joystick ports.

The IcePi mounts face down onto the carrier which will then provide the IcePi with an RP2350 as FPGA Companion, two DB9 joystick/mouse ports and a few LEDs.

This carrier board is supported by the Lattice/IcePi port of NanoMig.

The RP2350 on the IcePi Carrier runs the PICO2 variant of the FPGA Companion firmware which is configured like so:

MiSTle - Icepi-Zero Carrier: common questions

What microcontroller does the MiSTle - Icepi-Zero Carrier use?

The MiSTle - Icepi-Zero Carrier is built around the RP2350_60QFN, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the MiSTle - Icepi-Zero Carrier PCB?

The MiSTle - Icepi-Zero Carrier measures 42.8 × 81.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the MiSTle - Icepi-Zero Carrier?

73 components, from 31 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the MiSTle - Icepi-Zero Carrier design files?

From the MiSTle-Dev/Boards repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the MiSTle - Icepi-Zero Carrier design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with MiSTle-Dev. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the MiSTle - Icepi-Zero Carrier without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
