From the project

The second generation of the Endeavour FPGA board

This is the second generation of my FPGA board. Comparing to endeavour1 it is 4 times faster and has 8x more memory.

The goal was the same as on the previous iteration -- to make a DIY computer based on FPGA. It should support display, keyboard, should be able to run Linux, should have on-device compiler toolchain, and ideally should be able to render some 3D graphic. It was fully achieved -- I have even managed to connect my board to WiFi and play Quake2 in multiplayer.

Endeavour2: common questions

What microcontroller does the Endeavour2 use?

The Endeavour2 is built around the ESP32-C3-WROOM-02-N4, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Endeavour2 PCB?

The Endeavour2 measures 100 × 85 mm, has 6 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Endeavour2?

263 components, from 85 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Endeavour2 design files?

From the petrmikheev/endeavour2 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Endeavour2 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which petrmikheev chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Endeavour2 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
