About the Carte FX 0 PCB

Carte FX 0 is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by PhysicsDptAngers, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 100 × 100 mm, with 107 components from 35 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the MCP602, PCM5102A and TL074. By type, the board carries 55 capacitors, 32 resistors, 9 connectors, 8 ICs, 1 module and 1 transistor.

It belongs with the audio designs in this gallery.

Open source, analog and polyphonic synthesizer

We designed an optional, dedicated FX card based on the RP2350 microcontroller to handle digital effects. This board connects to the conductor board via a standard 2x5 pin header. Audio input and output data transfer relies on the I2S protocol, implemented utilizing the RP2350's Programmable I/O (PIO) blocks.

To accommodate different budgets and assembly constraints, the card supports three ADC and DAC configurations:

Carte FX 0: common questions

What microcontroller does the Carte FX 0 use?

The Carte FX 0 is built around the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Carte FX 0 PCB?

The Carte FX 0 measures 100 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Carte FX 0?

107 components, from 35 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Carte FX 0 design files?

From the PhysicsDptAngers/polyUAnalog repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Carte FX 0 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which PhysicsDptAngers chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Carte FX 0 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
