About the Chameleon schematics PCB

Chameleon schematics is an open source PCB design by Seequa-Computer-Preservation, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 435 × 317.5 mm, with 361 components from 152 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the 8088_Max_Mode, 8087, XD184000xP, 8284 and 74LS244. By type, the board carries 176 ICs, 92 capacitors, 67 resistors, 14 connectors, 2 transistors and 2 crystals.

From the project

Reverse engineering of the Seequa Chamelon PC

The Chameleon was an interesting PC clone luggable.

It had a Z80 and 8088 CPU, which could be switched between, allowing a Chameleon owner to use both MS-DOS and CP/M.

Forgoing the usual ISA expansion slots, it included a number of peripherals directly on the motherboard, including an integrated CGA-compatible video card with some interesting additions such as font SRAM and palette registers.

The KiCad project lives in the Seequa-Computer-Preservation/chameleon_schematics repository on GitHub; these links point at the commit this page was built from.

Chameleon schematics: common questions

How big is the Chameleon schematics PCB?

The Chameleon schematics measures 435 × 317.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Chameleon schematics?

361 components, from 152 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Chameleon schematics design files?

From the Seequa-Computer-Preservation/chameleon_schematics repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Chameleon schematics design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Seequa-Computer-Preservation. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
