From the project

Hardware design monorepo with software-grade CI/CD. KiCad PCB projects with automated ERC/DRC, multi-fab rule validation, schematic & BOM checks, and auto-generated board documentation.

S1.1 engineering prototype: fully routed 64 × 56 mm, four-layer PCB for the separate shower presence sensor. It uses an ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N16, RV-3028-C7 RTC, 3.3 V and switchable 5 V TPS63070 rails, an LD2410C socket, native USB-C data, one RGB LED and one battery/pairing button. Supply: three AA alkaline or 1.5 V primary lithium cells. There is no battery charger.

Alec sensor: common questions

What microcontroller does the Alec sensor use?

The Alec sensor is built around the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N16, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Alec sensor PCB?

The Alec sensor measures 64 × 56 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Alec sensor?

88 components, from 44 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Alec sensor design files?

From the eshelton328/the-forge repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Alec sensor design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with eshelton328. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Alec sensor without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
