Its main chip is the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N16, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the TPS63070RNMR, USBLC6-2SC6, RV-3028-C7, MAX98357A and SN74LVC2G66DCUR. By type, the board carries 52 resistors, 34 capacitors, 8 ICs, 7 transistors, 6 connectors and 2 switches.

It belongs with the audio designs in this gallery.

From the project

Hardware design monorepo with software-grade CI/CD. KiCad PCB projects with automated ERC/DRC, multi-fab rule validation, schematic & BOM checks, and auto-generated board documentation.

Enclosure-specific derivative of the reviewed ESP32-S3 dual-TPS63070 board. The 64 × 56 mm four-layer board retains the MCU, antenna overhang, USB, RTC, battery protection, switched display supply and MAX98357A audio path. User controls connect to two small daughterboards. This is a prototype; physical qualification and manufacturing release remain pending.

Alec main: common questions

What microcontroller does the Alec main use?

The Alec main is built around the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N16, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Alec main PCB?

The Alec main measures 64 × 56 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Alec main?

112 components, from 47 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Alec main design files?

From the eshelton328/the-forge repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Alec main design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with eshelton328. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Alec main without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
