From the project

ESP32-based climate and sprinkler controller for use with ESPHome

Here you'll find plans for an ESP32-based controller designed with ESPHome in mind. It is primarily designed for switching 24-volt AC circuits but it is flexible by design and should be adaptable to other types of electrical workloads.

In the Preface you will find background information about this project such as how it came to be and some personal thoughts and experiences I've had with home automation through the years.

ClimateSprinklerController: common questions

What microcontroller does the ClimateSprinklerController use?

The ClimateSprinklerController is built around the ESP32-WROVER, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the ClimateSprinklerController PCB?

The ClimateSprinklerController measures 217 × 108 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the ClimateSprinklerController?

189 components, from 83 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the ClimateSprinklerController design files?

From the kbx81/ClimateSprinklerController repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the ClimateSprinklerController design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with kbx81. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the ClimateSprinklerController without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
