From the project

OWASSO-1 DIY ESP32-S3 phone KiCad revF PCB project

Open generated/handset.kicadpro in KiCad 10. This is a new board and hierarchical schematic, not the old Rev F layout. It is incomplete, partially routed, and not ready to fabricate or power. The original Rev F project is preserved in ../rev-f/`.

Latest: SX1262 core regulator correction. The clock and RF frontend are still incomplete.

- 66 × 142 × 1.6 mm board with four copper layers, four 2.2 mm mounting holes and a 27 × 24 mm trackball opening. The extra 4 mm length prevents the mounting drills from breaking through the former 138 mm outline. - Retained ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N16R8; PSRAM pads…

Handset: common questions

What microcontroller does the Handset use?

The Handset is built around the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N16R8, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Handset PCB?

The Handset measures 66 × 142 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Handset?

217 components, from 116 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Handset design files?

From the JeremyLakeyJr/mesh-phone repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Handset design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with JeremyLakeyJr. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Handset without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
